There were no new members present at today's meeting and only a few members rode today.
NEWS from Trev Deeley Motorcycles (Chapter Sponsor):
Darwin spoke on behalf of the store.
Good morning, and thank you for the opportunity to share some info from Trev Deeley Motorcycles. We really do feel that you are part of our family here.
By now you may have seen our new H-D 1 Fit Shop and Design Centre in the middle of our showroom which truly takes customization to a whole new personalized level. Once a bike is designed to be made, it of course goes into our Service Department.
I am pleased to introduce George Conway as our new Service Manager.
Kimberly Reid, who was Service Manager for a number of years, will now be managing the sales of financing, insurance and Extended Warranty Plans. We are very pleased to announce that Kimberly is our new Business Manager.
Staying on the Service theme, November 17 will be our Tech Night, 6:30pm to 9pm, with a whole new exciting format and is already filling up with RSVP’s. If you wish to attend, please make sure that you sign up with Kyoko at the Reception desk. Or you can R.S.V.P. by calling 604-291-1875. Everyone is welcome. There is something for everyone.
Trev Deeley Motorcycles and Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada have launched a new fund raising program in support of the Movember Foundation. The Movember Foundation raises money to fund two programs: an awareness and education program that significantly increases the understanding and reduces the stigmas of the health risks that men face, and Movember’s Global Action Plan that accelerates key outcomes in prostate cancer research. You can donate money to an individual, a team or to the Movember cause itself. All funds raised go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada and the Movember Foundation. Trev Deeley Motorcycles has a team: “Trev Deeley Handlebars”. Even the smallest amount is greatly appreciated for it all helps. Thanks to Len and Pam, who stopped in and donated $100.00 yesterday. If our team raises the highest amount, Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada will match the amount up to $25,000! If you choose to join our team, for each $100.00 you raise as a registered member, YOU receive 1 ballet and entry to win a new Harley-Davidson V-Rod Motorcycle. You can log on to http://ca.movember.com/ to participate in this worthy cause. Several local Chapter members have donated to the Movember Fund Raiser “Trev Deeley Handlebars” team. We thank them for their generosity.
We are new selling Movember T-shirts at a cost of $25.00 plus tax; and partial proceeds also go towards this great cause.
From now through December 24, 2011, we have a free gift when you purchase $300.00 or more of qualified goods. The gift is a “Genuine Harley Davidson 2011 Rally Archive Collection” in a picture frame. And we are donating this gift to the chapter for a door prize today.
The HOG the Road Contest has been extended until today, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. For those members who registered for this contest at the beginning of the year, please make sure that you have provided the Service Department with your final mileage for the year. Proof of final odometer reading will be required.
This year, Trev Deeley Motorcycles will be hosting a brunch following the H.O.G. Chapter meeting on Saturday, Dec 3, 2011 to express our thanks to the Executive Committee and the Chapter. This brunch will replace the H.O.G. Shopping Week, normally sponsored by Trev Deeley Motorcycles. We are asking that the members R.S.V.P. to Kyoko here at the store. Space is limited to 60 and we ask that if you RSVP, that you DO attend or we may ask for a $20.00 claw back, for we still have to pay for the food and supplies. I hope this seems reasonable and fair.
And for your holiday shopping needs, we will offer our chapter members only, 20% off parts and merchandise from Dec 1 – 4, 2011.
On Saturday, Dec 3 and 10, 2011, Trev Deeley Motorcycles will sponsor “Photos with Santa” from 11am to 3pm. All photos are by donation and the proceeds will be given to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.
Finally, we will be closed Nov 11 in respect of Remembrance Day for those who gave so much...

Oct 2 – Toy Run After Burner Party – Trev Deeley Motorcycles – This was also well attended. Everyone enjoyed hot soup and/or hot dogs.

NEW BUSINESS:
As Darwin mentioned at the beginning of the meeting, the “HOG The Road” contest concludes today. Please make sure that you take a picture of the mileage on your motorcycle and turn it into the Service Department here at Trev Deeley Motorcycles. The winner will be announced at the Christmas Party on November 26.
Roy Vickers is having a showing of his art here at Trev Deeley Motorcycles on Nov 19 – 20.
The Annual H.O.G. Christmas Party, is being held on Nov. 26 at the Executive Inn on Gilmore and Lougheed, Burnaby. The Chapter and Trev Deeley Motorcycles are subsidizing the cost of the party, so that the cost of the tickets will be $35.00. There are a limited number of tickets, so if you want to attend the Christmas Party, please purchase your tickets today, as the deadline is Sunday, Nov 6. The Executive Inn is offering rooms at a cost of $119.00 if anyone wants to stay the night. Unfortunately, we have to pay for parking at a cost of $7.00 for the evening. The tickets are available from Kyoko, at Trev Deeley Motorcycles Reception desk.
A reminder, that Trev Deeley Motorcycles is hosting a H.O.G. Brunch following our regular meeting on Saturday, Dec 3rd. Please R.S.V.P to Kyoko at the Reception desk. Santa Clause will be making an appearance, so that you can get your annual “Photo with Santa Clause” picture. This year the pictures are available by donation, and the proceeds will be going to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. Also, there will be H.O.G. Christmas shopping from Dec 1 – 4 with 20% off qualified parts and merchandise.
This year, as in the past, we are collecting donations to sponsor needy families for Christmas. Last year, we collected enough money to provide for a family of 11 (9 children). This year, Cedar Cottage has another family for us; as well, we have been told of a single mother that needs our assistance (through an employee of Trev Deeley Motorcycles). It was also suggested that we approach Roy and Juanita (chapter members), as they are looking after their grandchildren (ages 1 – 14). Terry Sue is heading this worthy cause, and will be in touch with Roy and Juanita. Terry will also take your donations after the meeting.
We received a commemorative gift from H.O.G. Canada, a glass plaque, which will be placed in the H.O.G. corner after the meeting.
We also received a CD from a gentleman (John Vach) from Denmark, who visited Trev Deeley Motorcycles and the Trev Deeley Museum. He was extremely impressed with the prices here in Canada. Apparently, in Denmark, the “Taxman” is the big bad wolf, along with the insurance companies. He believes that the H.O.G. logo is the most beautiful of logos that he has ever seen.
Gerry Rooyakkers and Sherii Dixon, on behalf of the “Burn Fund”, sent a ‘bandanna’ to the Vancouver Chapter of H.O.G. as a thank you for your continuous support for the Burn Camp Ride For Kids. It was the decision of the Executive Committee that the bandanna be given as a door prize today.
H.O.G. Canada has (3) vacant H.O.G. Regional Director positions across Canada, of which, the Western Region, is one. The volunteer Regional Director position provides leadership, guidance and effective communication links with H.O.G. Canada, Chapters, & Retailers and works towards enhancing positive and productive relationships at all levels. The selection process for this position is similar to that of applying for a job with cover letters, resumes, interviews, background checks etc. all being in play. If you would be interested in applying for one of these positions or know of someone who may be interested, please contact Chris Ferguson, Secretary, Vancouver H.O.G. Chapter.
Sharon Schulz, our Photographer, asks that if you have pictures that you took of your travels throughout 2011, please forward them to her as soon as possible, so that she can include them in the annual CD that she produces each year.
