Vancouver Chapter Harley Owners Group Business Meeting October 1, 2011

The meeting came to order by Assistant Director Terry Sue at 10:02 am at Trev Deeley Motorcycles Conference Room. Director Vern Bye was away this week.

There was one (1) new member (Peter) present at today's meeting many members rode today.

• Sunday, Oct 2, 2011 – Vancouver Toy Run and Trev Deeley Motorcycles After Burner Party. The Toy Run assembles at Coquitlam Centre and leaves at 10:00 am and travels to the PNE Grounds. Following this, come join us here at the store for “Free Hot Soup, Hot Dogs, Coffee and Hot Chocolate”. The party begins at 11:00 am and goes to 2:00 pm. There will also be lots of in-store specials on MotorClothes, and Parts.

• The Vancouver H.O.G. specials in the store for the next three months (Sept, Oct, and Nov) are 12% off Security Systems, Storage items, and Heated Gear.

• Thanksgiving Sale – Oct 2 – 10 – Up to 60% off select items in MotorClothes, Parts & Accessories. This excludes motorcycles & service.

• Tech Night, November 17, 2011 – 6:30pm – 9pm. Please R.S.V.P. by calling 604-291-1875. Everyone is welcome. Something for everyone.

• Trev Deeley Motorcycles and Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada are launching a new fund raising program in support of the Movember Foundation. The Movember Foundation raises money to fund two programs: an awareness and education program that significantly increases the understanding and reduces the stigmas of the health risks that men face, and Movember’s Global Action Plan that accelerates key outcomes in prostate cancer research. You can donate money to an individual, a team or to the Movember cause itself. All funds raised go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada and the Movember Foundation. Trev Deeley Motorcycles has a team: “Trev Deeley Handlebars” and you can join their team and start your own donation page like Darwin Osarchuk has done. Trev Deeley Motorcycles is asking their staff, the H.O.G. Chapter Members, and all friends to log on to http://ca.movember.com/ to participate in this worthy cause. Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada is matching donations up to $25,000.

• There will be a Winter Work Special from the Service Department. Further details will be released by mid-October.

• The HOG the Road Contest has been extended until Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. For those members who registered for this contest at the beginning of the year, please make sure that you have provided the Trev Deeley Motorcycle’s Service department with your final mileage for the year. Proof of final odometer reading will be required.

• Trev Deeley Motorcycles will be hosting a “Brunch” following the H.O.G. Chapter meeting on Saturday, Dec 3, 2011. This brunch will replace the H.O.G. Shopping Week, normally sponsored by Trev Deeley Motorcycles. We are asking that the members R.S.V.P. to Kyoko here at the store. Further details regarding this function will be announced at the November meeting.

• On Saturday, Dec 10, 2011, Trev Deeley Motorcycles will sponsor “Photos with Santa”. They are looking for someone to volunteer to be “Santa” for approximately 4 hours. They have the Santa suit. If you are interested in volunteering to be “Santa”, please call 604-291-2453 (BIKE) and ask for Darwin Osarchuk.

• Mike Chisholm, Trev Deeley Motorcycles from the Parts department demonstrated the new “Boom Box” sound system for the touring motorcycles. More information regarding this product can be found at http://www.trevdeeley.com or by calling 604-291-2453 (BIKE).

• Trev Deeley Motorcycles is hosting a stop point for another charity event for prostate cancer on Thursday, October 6 before 10am. STEP INTO ACTION is a fundraiser & awareness run which has raised $309K for support of research at the Vancouver Prostate Centre. Anyone who is a runner who wants to join Dr. Senft for part of his last leg of his journey is welcome to join him. More details can be obtained at http://www.stepintoaction.ca .

OLD BUSINESS:

Sept 14 – H.O.G. Evening Ride – Tsawwassen – The ride departed from Trev Deeley Motorcycles at 7:00 pm with 3 riders and 2 passengers.

Sept 17 – H.O.G. Ride – The ride was cancelled due to weather.

Sept 18 – Demo Rides at Trev Deeley Motorcycles. This event was cancelled due to weather.

Sept 21 – H.O.G. Evening Family Ride – The ride was cancelled due to weather.

Sept 24 – H.O.G. Overnight Ride to Anacortes for the Oyster Run – CANCELLED

Sept 25 – Oyster Run – Anacortes, Washington – 2 Riders attended. There was a good turnout.

Sept 28 – H.O.G. Evening Ride –This was the END of our Wednesday Night Rides for 2011. The ride departed from Trev Deeley Motorcycles at 7:00 pm with 12-15 riders. Everyone enjoyed the ride.

Oct 28 – H.O.G. Harleyween Bowling – 7 PM -- Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes, 6th Ave and 12th Street, New Westminster. Please come and join us for a night of “Fun” Bowling and if you feel so inclined, come dressed in a Halloween costume (although a costume is not mandatory)

Terry Sue, Assistant Director, announced that the tickets for the Annual H.O.G. Christmas Party, which is being held on Nov. 26 at the Executive Inn on Gilmore and Lougheed, Burnaby, are available following the meeting. The Chapter and Trev Deeley Motorcycles are subsidizing the cost of the party, so that the cost of the tickets will be $35.00. There are a limited number of tickets, so if you want to attend the Christmas Party, please purchase your tickets early. The Executive Inn is offering rooms at a cost of $119.00 if anyone wants to stay the night. Unfortunately, we have to pay for parking at a cost of $7.00 for the evening. If you are unable to purchase your tickets after the meeting, the tickets will be available from Kyoko, at Trev Deeley Motorcycles reception desk.

The 5th Prairie Regional Rally is being held on July 12-14, 2012 in Saskatoon, Sask. Further details can be found at: http://www.prairieregionalrally.com

H.O.G. Canada has (3) vacant H.O.G. Regional Director positions across Canada including the Western Quebec & Atlantic Regions, in which they would like to fill over the next few months. The volunteer Regional Director position provides leadership, guidance and effective communication links with H.O.G. Canada, Chapters, & Retailers and works towards enhancing positive and productive relationships at all levels. The selection process for this position is similar to that of applying for a job with cover letters, resumes, interviews, background checks etc. all being in play. If you would be interested in applying for one of these positions or know of someone who may be interested, please Chris Ferguson, Secretary, Vancouver H.O.G. Chapter.

We have been approached by two (2) different Rider Training Schools with regards to Advanced Rider training. However, due to the lateness in the riding season, we have asked them to contact us, prior to the riding season beginning in the spring, with regards to doing a presentation at one of our meetings.

There are still a few Chapter Photos available for purchase. The cost is $10.00. They can be purchased and picked up at the Trev Deeley Motorcycles West Reception Desk.

The Meeting was adjourned at 10:45am.
