Online Banking FAQs

Q: If a customer is already using PAPP (Pre-Authorized Payment Plan) will he or she be able to continue to use on PAPP?

A: Yes.  Established PAPP customers will be able to continue to use PAPP.  They will also have the option of switching to online banking but will need to cancel PAPP if they choose to switch.

Q: Can a customer enrolled in online banking go to PAPP?

A: No, as of June 16, 2008 customers are no longer be able to enroll in PAPP. Their payment options are to either make online payments or mail monthly cheques.

Q: Can a customer on PAPP make online payments?

A: Yes you can use online banking to make additional payments while on PAPP.  Keep in mind, if you are enrolled in both PAPP and online payments, you may incur double monthly payments.  HDFSC will not reimburse any customer who incurs double payments.

Q: If a PAPP customer decides to use online banking, will this cancel PAPP automatically?

A: No.  If the customer wants to switch from PAPP to online banking, they will need to call Customer Service at (800) 699-2336 to cancel their PAPP.

Q: How does a customer establish online banking?

A: Set up is simple.  If the customer is already using online banking with one of the participating banks, they just need to add HDFSC to their account payee list.  Only participating financial institutions are eligible to participate in online banking to make HDFSC payments.

Q: What will be the display name in the payee list for online banking?

A: Harley-Davidson Financial Services Canada.

Q: Will customers continue to receive a monthly statement?

A: Yes, customers will continue receiving monthly statements.  The statement will mention the new online banking payment option.

Q: Will customers be able to set up 84 payments online?

A: Most banks will allow customers to set up for future payment at a fixed date, but customers should check with the participating financial institution to determine what their bank’s procedures are.  For example, by using online banking a customer could set up biweekly payments as long as the total paid is equal to or greater than their monthly payment and also that the second payment is made on or before their established payment due date.

Q: If someone owes $400 a month and they pay $1,600 on their due date, did they prepay for the next three months?

A: Yes.

Q: Why is HDFSC moving to online banking instead of PAPP?

A:

  • Online banking provides the customer with more control in managing his/her account and more flexible
    payment options
  • Customers are already comfortable with the online banking process from paying other bills online
  • Fewer administrative requirements for F&I personnel at the time of sale
  • Fewer mistakes and dissatisfied customers

Q: What if a customer is having issues with identifying HDFSC as a beneficiary on their participating online banking web site?

A: Contact their participating bank or try searching for, "Harley" as a key word instead of, "Harley-Davidson."
