The advantages of Syn 3

First of all your engine will run cooler and we all know how important that is on a hot summer day stuck in traffic in White Rock! Secondly Syn 3 is more resistant to thermal breakdown and has less viscosity change over time, which will allow you to increase the service intervals should you so desire.

For H.D. "big twins" the recommended intervals are:

• 1600 km’s then every 8000 km’s for the crank case
• 1600 then every 16,000 for the primary
• 1600 then every 32,000 for the transmission.

It is also recommended that the oils be replaced before or after any prolonged storage.

Lastly Syn 3 has a much lower pour point than fossil oils which will allow the oil to get to where it needs to be much quicker during a cold start.

No matter what kind of oil you decide to run, the importance of regular oil changes cannot be stressed enough. While long trips to Sturgis and other exotic locations may be the norm for some, the reality is short trips to and from work or "bar hopping" on Saturday night is more the norm for most of us. These short trips add water and acid to the oil which does not get burned off. The only way to get these contaminants out of your engine is by regular oil changes.
