This past September, Trev Deeley Motorcycles owner Darren James and a handful of staff decided to head out on a scenic ride up the sea to sky highway with the destination set as Squamish, BC. What for, you may ask? Well, that’s where the Fuel Good Tour was held — an event that no motorcycle lover should miss.

Besides checking out the brand new Harley-Davidson bikes like the new Sportster S (https://www.trevdeeley.com/blog/harley-davidson-sportster-s--the-first-look--41255), and the Pan America (https://www.trevdeeley.com/blog/harley-davidson-pan-america---trev-deeley-staff-first-look--36159) Fuel Good is more than a display of bikes. This event is really about meeting local bikers and supporting local business owners. It was an experience we surely won’t forget, and we’re happy to tell you all about it!

What Is the Fuel Good Tour?

A community of motorcycle enthusiasts, The Moto Social, partnered up with Harley-Davidson to organize this year’s Fuel Good Tour. Over the course of two weeks, motorcycle lovers gathered at different stops in the country to share their passion for bikes and socialize.

“Harley Canada and The Moto Social are partnering up to support twelve local businesses across the country, across Canada,” our host Kaitlin told us when we arrived. Above all, the tour’s purpose was to bring new customers to the businesses that suffered during the pandemic or offered their support to the community.

But aside from that, the Fuel Good Tour helps motorcycle enthusiasts find like-minded people and make connections. And as we roamed around the gathering place, we could see that it was definitely working. Everyone was in a good mood, chatting about their bikes and enjoying each other’s company. We only visited Squamish, but we have no doubts that other locations were just as fun!

Why Squamish?

For many, Squamish is often a fuel stop or a coffee break as they head north on their way up to Whistler. And while many other locations of the Fuel Good tour include some of the biggest cities in Canada, such as our home town Vancouver, along with Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, it is tough to match the views while visiting this community of around 20,000 people. I think it would be fair this stop was really about the journey.

If you have ever taken this stretch of the Sea to Sky highway, you’ll get it. The day for us was clear and beautiful, and the surrounding mountains were stunning. Dan from Trev Deeley explained further why Squamish was chosen. “People ride up here every day; the weekends are just crazy. The highway is known all over Canada,” he said. “People will travel far and wide.” And considering how many motorcycle lovers we met on that day, it seems that he was right! Wide highways stretched out before us, revealing the picturesque views as we sped along on our Harley-Davidson. There wasn’t too much traffic either — a perfect place to kick your bike in high gear!

Harley’s Contribution

Harley-Davidson was one of the organizers of the Fuel Good Tour, but that wasn’t its only contribution. In fact, its bikes were everywhere, and we even got an exclusive first glance at the brand new Sportster S model! At that point, no one in Canada had seen it before, so it garnered quite a bit of attention. People kept approaching, testing it out and asking about its specs and features.

Stuart Wells, Trev Deeley Sales associate, stayed close to the Sportster S all day, explaining all the new Harley-Davidson to onlookers.

Aside from Sportster S, which was undoubtedly the star of the day, visitors could take a look at and test the Pan America model. And what more could a Harley fan want than the opportunity to see two new bikes?

All visitors could enjoy a free cup of coffee or a treat, once again courtesy of Harley Canada. Even so, both Harley and The Moto Social encouraged everyone to buy a sandwich or a beverage from local businesses. They were one of the main reasons for this tour in the first place, after all.

And finally, all visitors could nominate one essential worker for a special prize provided by Harley. The winner got a trip for two to the JW Marriott Muskoka resort and spa. As we soon found out, though, that wasn’t all. “If you’re a rider,” said Kaitlin, “Harley will even give you a bike to ride to Muskoka.” We almost wished we could be nominated!

Final Thoughts on the Fuel Good Tour

The Fuel Good Tour ended over a month ago, yet we still fondly remember the day we visited Squamish. In fact, if you’re a Harley fan or just a motorcycle lover, it’s an experience that you shouldn’t miss. After all, you get to meet people with the same passions as you, see brand new motorcycles, and support local businesses. There’s plenty to do, and if you want, you can even join the group as it travels from one stop to another.

And after the positive response, the Fuel Good Tour got this year. We hope Harley-Davidson and The Moto Social will organize it again. If you’ve missed it this year, be on the lookout. You don’t want to miss it again!
